On August 16th, the inaugural meeting of the Macao Alumni Association of Huazhong Normal University was held in the conference room of the University of Macau. Huang Xiaomei, secretary of the school party committee, and Cen Jiayi, director of the Higher Education Department of the Macao Liaison Office, and Ren Youzhou, assistant to the principal, attended the meeting. Heads of departments such as the Office of student affairs , the Office of Hong Kong/Macao and Taiwan Affairs, the College of Liberal Arts, the Office of Domestic Cooperation and Alumni, representatives of alumni from Hong Kong, Shenzhen and Zhuhai, representatives of the Macao Brothers Alumni Association, and more than 20 alumni from all walks of life in Macao attended the inaugural meeting.
Xu Jie, graduted from the Chinese Department of CCNU as a master in 1984 , work as a Yangtze River scholar and head of the Department of Humanities at the University of Macau, gave a welcome speech to the representatives of the Macao alumni. They expressed their warm welcome and sincere gratitude to the school leaders, distinguished guests and Macao alumni. Jiang Chunlian, graduated from the Department of Mathematics in 1993, made a report about the preparation for the Macau Alumni Association and gave a brief explanation of the charter. Wang Zhibin, secretary general of the Alumni Association, read the approval of the school alumni association. Xu Jie was elected as the president of the Macao Alumni Association, Guo Xiaoming the executive vice president, Jiang Chunlian and Xie Yuhong the vice presidents, and Jiang Chunlian the secretary general.
Xu Jie delivered a speech thanking everyone for their trust and support, said under the collective leadership of the Board of Directors, in accordance with the alumni association charter and relevant laws and regulations, the Alumni Association will be well-equipped to live up to the expectations of the school and the alumni. At the same time, he hoped members of the Board of Directors will work together to build a platform for liaison, exchange of information, resource sharing, mutual support and common development among alumni, alumni and alma mater, and build the Macao Alumni Association into a real “Alumni House”.
The Alumni Association presented the spirit of CCNU and the school training scroll of CCNU to the Macao Alumni Association. The alumni representatives from Hong Kong, Shenzhen and Zhuhai sent a sincere blessing to the establishment of the Macao Alumni Association and hoped there could be more exchanges between the alumni associations around the country to enhance the relationship. They also hoped joint efforts could be made to strengthen the alumni team and enhance the strength of the alumni association.
On behalf of the school, Huang Xiaomei expressed warm congratulations on the establishment of the Macao Alumni Association. She said the establishment of the Macao Alumni Association was to respond to the decision-making of the Party Central Committee in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau. She looked forward to the Macao Alumni Association to seize the development opportunities in Dawan District. As a bridgehead in the Dawan District, the school will actively connect with the national strategy and reflect the contribution of CCNU. She hoped the Macao Alumni Association could become a stable bridge connecting alumni and Alma Mater and become a warm home for Macao alumni and a platform to develop friendship among alumni associations.
