Ji Youming, the deputy director of The CPPCC national committee for literature, history and learning, died of disease at his age of 81 on March 31st.He was a well-known Confucian merchant and was entitled as “the King of Electronic Scissors.” The funeral was held in Hongkong funeral parlor on April 4th. Over 200 relatives and friends in political, cultural and business field attended to this funeral. As representatives of our university, Cai Hongsheng (vice president of CCNU) , Wang Zhibin (Director of the Office of Domestic Cooperation and Alumni) and Wang Wei(Director of the Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Office），attended the ceremony.
Wang Yang (member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference),Han Zheng(member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee), and Vice Premier of the State Council, Wang Zhimin(director of the Liaison Office), sent wreaths to Mr. Ji. Tan Yaozong, member of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, delivered an eulogy, praising Ji Youming for his patriotism, love for Hong Kong , dedication and remarkable achievements.
The ceremony began at 10：30 am. People attended to it constantly. A total of eight people，which respectively are Liang Zhenying(vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference), Lin Wu(former deputy director of the Liaison Office, Tan Yaozong (member of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress), Yu Guochun (member of the Standing Committee of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference), Shi Ziqing (chairman of the Hong Kong branch of the Chinese Calligraphy Association), Lu Wenduan(chairman of the Hong Kong General Association of the China Peaceful Reunification Promotion Association), Gao Jingde (Hong Kong Chinese Culture Association President) and Cai Hongsheng (Vice President of our CCNU) ，carried the hearse for Mr. Ji and bid farewell in his last journey.
Mr. Ji, who served as an executive director of the Hubei Overseas Friendship Association and a consultant of the Hubei Provincial Chamber of Commerce and Township Enterprise Association, was concerned greatly about the cause of education. He had made outstanding contributions to the development of CCNU. In 2001, he generously donated 10 million yuan to support the construction of educational facilities in our school. The completed Youming Gymnasium witnessed and showed Mr. Ji youming's sincere concern for the national education cause and the construction and development of CCNU.
On May 2001, the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council approved the honorary doctorate of Mr. Ji from Mr. Ji Youming for his contribution to the development of the school and the establishment of industrial and social culture. On January 2018, Ms. Wei Fengying, Mrs. Ji Youming, visited CCNU and went for the Youming Gymnasium to investigate the real situation.
